Named “living fossil” by the experts, Shanxi paper cutting has better transmitted the ancient designs, as if the fish head with human body, lion’s body with human head, and the image of baby similar to the Zhou culture, and “plowing cattle” similar to the painting of Han dynasty. Some of them were inspired by the thought of Yin and Yang and concept of reproductive worship. These can be found in some of north Shanxi paper cuttings.
