Lacquer line carving----- a treasure of Chinese art. The history of lacquer line carving dates back to the end of Ming dynasty, enjoying wide reputations. The art of lacquer line carving was created and developed in Fujian, in Kang xi of Qing dynasty, the technique of lacquer line carving has been more mature. However, it is seen as the symbol of treasure and social status, thus it is mainly held by high-rankings and in large mansions along Fujian area for its scarce. Due to the complicated process and tight-mouthed secret, it gradually lost its glamour. Thanks to the continuous efforts being made recently, this art can be re-invented and transmitted, for its distinguished artistic feature, it has been used as national gift sent to overseas that won acclaims for our country. Lacquer line carving is the most fined essence among three national products, namely the classic Jingde town ceramics, spirited Fuzhou bodiless porcelain and glamorous Beijing cloisonné. Its rich color, elegant design and grave style are the best representations of national culture.
